Daily Oceania Capital Quiz
▸ABOUT THIS GAME
Today's mystery capital city from Oceania, the same one for every player until local midnight.
The smallest pack, and the strangest. Almost every entry is an archipelago, so the shape round is less about one outline than about the pattern a scatter of islands makes. Several of these countries have more ocean territory than most continents have land.
Distances here are enormous and the land is tiny, so the compass hint matters more than in any other pack. Telling the Micronesian states apart is the last thing most players learn.
The pool is the 17 countries of Oceania. Only zero of the capitals carry their own territory's name in some form, which makes those the free points; the rest are the round. The seats of government run from Ngerulmud in the far north to Wellington in the far south, and because the hint after a wrong guess reports a compass direction, latitude is the axis you can triangulate on fastest.
One capital city name. Name the country it governs. Cities that share a name with their country are free points; the rest reward knowing your Central Asia from your Caucasus. You get 6 guesses. Every wrong one returns the great-circle distance to the target, a compass direction pointing at it and a proximity percentage, so a cold start is recoverable, two well-spaced wrong guesses will usually bracket the answer.
Daily mode is one puzzle, drawn from a fixed schedule so that every player anywhere gets the same capital city on the same date. It rotates at your local midnight. There is no retry and no reshuffle: six guesses, then the answer, then a share card recording how many it took. That constraint is the point, a streak you can't re-roll is worth something, and the pressure changes how you spend guess two. Progress and streaks are stored on your own device rather than an account, so clearing site data clears them. Full rules, including how the distance and compass hints are calculated, are on the how-to-play page. If you've already played today, endless mode has no limit.
