Nigeria (officially Federal Republic of Nigeria) is a country in Western Africa, with its capital at Abuja, and is home to roughly 232.7M people.
English is the official language; the currency in circulation is Nigerian naira (₦); people from here are called Nigerian.

Nigeria touches four neighbours: Benin to the west, Cameroon to the southeast, Chad to the northeast and Niger to the north. Directions run from one centre to the other.
Abuja replaced Lagos as capital in 1991. It was purpose-built in the centre of the country, deliberately on ground not claimed by any of the major ethnic groups.

Designed in 1959 by a student, Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi, who entered a public competition. Green for the land, white for peace. His original design had a red sun which the judges removed.
